12 Weeks!

For some reason 12 weeks seems like a huge milestone to me. I know I'm not into the 2nd tri until next week but it feels so good to see I've hit the 12 week mark:) I've decided to start the pregnancy survey I've seen other people do on their blogs from now on. Eventually I'll post a bump picture too. While I'm starting to notice a difference, it still just looks like fat and bloat so I'm not that eager to even take my weekly bump pics:( I'm so ready to have a BABY bump!

SO, on with the survey:
How far along? 12 weeks!

Weight gain/loss: Eh, I weigh myself each morning and it goes up a pound or two and then comes back down. So overall, hopefully I haven't gained much at all. I'll find out next week at my OB appt.

Maternity clothes? I tried wearing maternity capri pants the other day and they kept falling down when I was getting ready. So I took them off and just wore jeans. They fit ok but by the end of the day I was doing the hair tie around the button trick.

Stretch marks? Nothing new

Sleep? Varies, I get up a lot to pee and my cat wakes me up constantly but that's not really pregnancy related:P

Best moment since last update? Well, since it's my first update, I guess the best moment so far has been seeing Petri and hearing his/her heartbeat, and telling our families!

Food cravings: DQ blizzard! And sushi. I'd eat california rolls EVERY.SINGLE.DAY if I could

Genders: Don't know yet but can't wait to find out! I'm hoping I can schedule our anatomy scan on J's birthday in June:)

Belly button in or out? In

Movement? No, I can't wait for that to start!

What I miss? I wanted a Bloody Mary at brunch yesterday but that feeling passed as quickly as it came. As for now, not really missing anything because I'm not really giving anything "extra" up. Although... I would like to drink some sweet tea more often!

What I'm looking forward to: Next week's OB appt. I'm hoping to at least hear the HB again. Then after the appt we plan to share our news with the world:)

Milestones: I guess just making it to a week shy of the 2nd trimester?

Things I like so far for the baby:)

So I've had a long time to look into what I like for our future child. I used to look a lot when we first started trying but that slowly tapered off as the months and years went by. Well now that I'm pregnant, I'm in baby gear overdrive:P I spend A LOT of time looking stuff up and can't wait for the day when we can actually go to a store to look at stuff in person. We went to BRU and checked out the stroller we liked and saw the baby bedding we liked but otherwise we haven't reallly played with and looked at things in person. So... here's pictures of stuff I like for the baby. We need to do more research so I'm not sure how much we'll actually end up with, but at 11 1/2 weeks in, this is what I like:)

First, diaper bags. I fell in love with Petunia Picklebottom about 2 years ago and during their outlet sales I bought the Afternoon in Katmandu clutch and shoulder bag. Just have to find something J will use. He likes the Diaper Dude Messenger Bag:

Then there's nursery bedding. I had found turtle bedding I liked a long time ago and thought it was pretty gender neutral but J said he thought it was too boyish after seeing it in person. So my hunt for girl bedding is on. I don't like pinks and purples very much so I'm having a hard time but this is what I've found so far. First is the Carters Laguna bedding which we'd use for a boy and then the Glenna Jane Maya bedding for a girl. Also, for both we'll probably just use accessories and not buy the crib bedding.

I'm so excited to get our stroller. We like the City Mini in either orange or green and are pretty set that it's what we want. However, last night J was doing more research on it and looked at the City Select. I feel like I could see him falling in love! It is VERY cool and I like the possibility for expanding it so we can use it for our next kid, but it's MUCH more expensive. SO we'll see... Here they are though:)

So there's more but I have other stuff I need to get done now. I'll do another post with the other stuff later:) What do you guys think of what I've picked so far?

A fun comparison!

I've promised u/s pics forever now and I'm finally getting around to posting them tonight:) I have pictures from my 6w1d u/s, 8w1day u/s and my 10w u/s. I doubt I'll have another one until my anatomy scan so that comparison will be crazy to see too! Here's Petri!:)

There isn't too much to update. I'm still feeling good 99% of the time. Definitely feeling more hungry and have to eat something immediately or I'll feel sick but for the most part I'm fine. I crave california rolls constantly. I'd eat them all day every day if I could:P I am more and more bloated lately and J has mentioned that I'm getting "bigger" (of course in the nicest way possible:P) I'm feeling more uncomfortable with my size and have mini breakdowns because nothing fits me right anymore. I've started using a bella band but feel like it's too soon for that and that my clothes should still fit. I KNOW it's not the baby that is giving me this belly right now. J reminded me the other night that even though the baby itself isn't filling my belly, these changes are because there is a baby in my belly. That helped at the time but it's hard to remind myself of that when I'm being all hormonal:P

I've told a few more people recently and still get great reactions. I really don't know why I expected it to be any different, I guess it just makes me shocked/happy to see people be that happy for J and I. We're telling my grandparents and aunt/uncle this weekend at an early Easter celebration. I'm excited to see their reaction. They know nothing of our trouble to get pregnant and used to drive me crazy because they'd ask every time they saw me when I was going to have a baby. Now I can finally say I am!:)

My next appointment is in a little less than 2 weeks (as in a day less;P) and I'm so excited for it. I'm excited because I'm hoping I'll at least get to hear the heartbeat again (by doppler, not expecting an u/s) but also because that is our milestone for when we can share our news with the world. By then all of our close friends and family will know but I won't have to tell them to keep quiet about it and I won't have to pretend like the most exciting thing in my life isn't actually happening:P Yay! Let the countdown to freeeedom begin;)

Hello again...

I don't have much to update these days. I guess I'm used to all the treatment update blog posts and I feel like I'm seriously slacking these days. I apologize but, you're not missing much. I went to my first OB appointment on Monday. I was so nervous and excited and had written a list of about 15 questions to ask my OB when I got there. Because of a scheduling issue I ended up leaving work very early and rushing to get in for an earlier appointment so I would still get to be seen that day (they were going to reschedule my appointment since it was later in the afternoon but I was NOT missing this appointment:P) Anyway, I went in, went back and got weighed, peed in a cup and they took my blood pressure. Then I got to sit in a room and wait. And wait some more. FINALLY my doctor came in! It was actually my doctor too (the one I see for all my gyn appts). I had originally scheduled the appt for a doctor that was available that day since mine wasn't but my doctor was on call and saw my name on the list of patients. He knew I was more than likely going to do IVF so he wanted to see me and congratulate me so he did the appointment instead. It was awesome. He came in with a big smile and was so so happy for me:) We talked for a bit and of course I forgot that list of questions I made so the talking part was much shorter. Then he said lets get to the fun part! He did an u/s!

Petri has grown so much in 2 weeks! It's crazy to see him/her every 2 weeks because s/he's grown so much! It was awesome though and petri's starting to look more like a baby and less like a blob. I also got to hear the heartbeat for the first time which was amazing. I got a bunch of pictures to take home to show J since he didn't come to the appt (wasn't sure what to expect so he wasn't planning to come and since I went about 5 hours earlier than planned, he wouldn't have been able to make it anyway).

After I got dressed I went out thinking the appt was over but no, they had to draw blood. I signed a paper and it said what the were testing my blood for, and it's all things I've been tested for at my RE's office. It's annoying but I'm so used to rolling up my sleeves to give blood that they may as well hook up a central line:P

All in all a great appointment. My next one is in 3 weeks (supposed to be 4 but they didn't have anything available then). As long as everything looks good at that appointment we'll be letting the last of our friends and family know and then "coming out" on facebook:)

Today I got a call that said my urine culture from monday came back positive for a UTI. I was shocked because as far as I know, I'm not feeling any symptoms. They called in a prescription for an antibiotic so I'll take that for a week and hopefully be "cured";)

Symptom wise I'm generally fine. I usually wake up nauseous most mornings but after I eat something I'm ok. I've been gagging a lot more but it's really not bad. My worst symptom right now is bloat. It had gone away a few weeks into my pregnancy but now it's back with a vengeance. It's so bad it hurts:( I'm hoping this will pass soon. But, I have an idea of what I'll look like at 5 months pregnant if I just gain in my belly:P

I promise promise promise to upload u/s pics soon...just not tonight! tooo tired!

Update on Petri and spreading the news:)

Petri is doing great! We had our second u/s this morning. I have been beyond nervous for the past 2 weeks and just terrified that I'd be getting bad news today. I was so nauseous this morning and I don't think it was because of m/s. Our appt was at 10:15am. We went in and the doctor and tech came in shortly after. Then, we got to see petri! It's crazy how much our baby has grown in 2 weeks. The doctor pointed out the head, heartbeat and rump. The heartbeat was SO fast (170bpm today!) and it was such a cool thing to see. He pointed out where the cord was and the yolk sac was and explained that it will eventually disappear after I commented on how much smaller it had gotten. I swear I could have stared at that screen all day. It was awesome. I still can't believe that I'M PREGNANT!!! Like with an actual baby growing inside me! Today was my reassurance and validation day and it's amazing.

After the u/s I went in to talk to the nurse. When we walked out of the room the other doctors, nurses and tech's were there cheering for us. We got hugs and many congratulations and so many smiles. I'm beyond thankful for the people that helped bring me to this point and I love that they're just as excited for us! We went in to talk to the nurse and she said it was my graduation day! I didn't realize that, thought we'd have at least 1 more ultrasound but I guess things are looking good enough that feel comfortable sending me to my OB. That's right AN OBSTETRICIAN! LIke a person that delivers BABIES! My baby! Oh! I can't even put into words how happy and scared and excited and nervous that made me. She also told me that I could stop taking metformin (YAY!) and gave me a timeline of when I could stop those stupid vaginal suppositories and the estridol. Then guess what... I'll only be down to a prenatal vitamin!:)

I just called to make my OB appt and it's on April 4th. The lady scheduling me asked me when my last menstral period was and I just laughed cause I can't remember. I can tell you the date of ER 1 and 2 and my transfer date but my period?? Who knows! I explained to her that I wasn't sure but that I did IVF and I can tell her the date of my retrieval and transfer and told her my due date was halloween. She tried to figure out my LMP then and told me it was sometime in late January. Fine, sounds about right. But later she looked at her little wheel thing and said that based on my LMP I wouldn't be 8weeks until early next week. So around we go again. In the end she ended up trusting that I knew my due date and just left it at that but I'd really not like to fight them my entire pregnancy. The benefit of IVF is you know the exact second you get pregnant, so no guessing on which day I ovulated... also, they assume with that little wheel of theirs, that I ovulated on day 14. HA! Newbsauce. Feel like I should do some educating of that office:P Anyway, I'm hoping I can get another u/s on the 4th just to have some more reassurance. I'll be 10 weeks that day:)

Now... onto how we told people! All of my immediate family knows now and I think everyone in Jason's family knows with the exception of his sister whom he hasn't gotten a hold of over the phone. Anyway... last week was amazing and quite eventful!

Mom and her husband/ brother:
Later this month is my mom's birthday so we gave her an "early birthday present" She opened the card thinking nothing of it and read "grandm- (couldn't even see the A since it was still in the envelope) and she started sobbing. Like full on sobbing:P Greg asked what I did to her and then he read the card and said he was getting teary eyed too:) It was so sweet! They're obviously very excited for us and I think more than that, they're relieved that IVF worked the first time for us! Later we went to dinner and while my brother was mid sip into his beer I just leaned over and said "you're going to be an uncle!" He 1/2 choked and then gave me the biggest hug:)

Dad and his wife:
Told them at dinner and they were both very excited. Not really surprised since they were suspicious of why we wanted to have dinner with them out of the blue. We made a point to call Kortnie Grandma K since she'll be 34 when the baby is born. My dad called the next day and wanted to know if he could share the news with my grandparents since he was so excited:P We'll be seeing them in a couple weeks so he decided to hold off and let us share the news in person.

Aunt/Uncle/Cousins:
I went over to my cousin's for dinner and my aunt and uncle came over too. My cousin tested me from the minute I got in the door, offering me a beer. I tried to play it off but apparently wasn't too good at it:P They did/said a few more things to make me realize they were more than onto me so I told them when we sat down for dinner. Seriously... they jumped up and screamed! It was hilarious and amazingly sweet and of course I began crying:P

Brother 2:
He was the cutest. He doesn't really know about everything we've been through so I feel like I got the most genuine reaction without having the relief/thank god something finally worked happiness mixed in. I called and he immediately asked what I wanted because I never call him. After going back and forth for a bit I told him he was going to be an Uncle. He just laughed and said "that's awesome" and then laughed some more. I just wanted to hug him for that. It was a perfect Brother #2 reaction:)

Sister:
I called her and she had other news she was gushing about (which I'll post about later) but she was ecstatic and already extremely happy. After talking with her a bit about that I told her I had some news to share as well and that I was pregnant. Didn't even finish the word pregnant and she started crying! It continued to be the sweetest crying fest ever:)

I'm so thankful to have such amazingly supportive people in my life. It means the world to me that I've been able to share this journey of ups and downs with them and that I can finally share with them the good news:) I don't think I could ever express my gratitude for these people in my life and the support and love they give me on a regular basis. I knew that everyone would be excited but I didn't think anyone would really be surprised. Surprised or not, it didn't change their most genuine excitement and love for J, petri and I! I'm so excited to continue to share my pregnancy updates with them and then eventually have them share in petri's life:)

I've been a slacker!

So many things to update! The most exciting is that last Tuesday we got to see our little blasty (henceforth shall be named Petri- it's cuter;)) Petri was fantastic! Measuring 5w6d (when I was 6w1d) and had a heartbeat of 104bpm. It was such a relief to see our baby and to see the flickering of our BABY's heart. I had to get another prescription for Metformin written up (other one's refills ran out... ugh) but it gave the Dr. time to find my nurse and everyone was SO excited for us:) I go back again on the 22nd for our next ultrasound.

By Friday my IF fears had crept in and overtaken all my joy. I had a major freakout at work on Friday. I'm so worried that I'll have missed miscarriage and that I'll get bad news on the 22nd. It's so hard to just trust that things are ok. I hate that I've been robbed of this joyful time because of the journey it took to get here. I'm trying very hard to just be excited and happy and not let those thoughts overtake me.

Sunday was another amazing day though. We decided to tell J's parents and my stepmom and her boyfriend. We were all meeting for brunch because J's parents had a gift certificate so they had no idea it was coming. I told J he could tell them and right after a conversation about the Tsunami in Japan had barely finished J said "did you hear the other news? Megannjay's pregnant!" Needless to say they, and I, were shocked. I didn't expect him to deliver it like that but it was pretty awesome. I'll never forget the faces of my mom and J's mom. It was amazing:) They were/are SO excited for us! I'm so happy that we FINALLY got to have this conversation with them:)

Tomorrow we're telling my mom and her husband and then thursday we're telling my dad and his wife. Throughout the week we'll be telling the siblings (over the phone). I'm excited to get all this out there so I don't have to avoid people or be worried about the conversation coming up. We can just talk about it and be excited about it:)

I'll post a picture of petri from our 6w u/s with the one from the 8w u/s. Do another comparison post:)

Symptoms:
Nausea is starting. I'm not totally sure if it's from the met or if it's real morning sickness. Today it was worse than other days and seemed to last most of the day though.
Otherwise feeling good:)

Happy 7 weeks to me!:)

Beta #3

Came back at 2194 today! Doubling time of about 51 hours:) No more beta's for me... 1st ultrasound is next Tuesday!!!! I'll be 6w1d so I'm not too sure what I'll get to see. I'm REALLY hoping to at least see the heartbeat but I know that it can go either way so not to freak out if I don't. Either way, I need that u/s to help this all sink in.

Now lets talk symptoms... it's hard for me to tell what is pregnancy related and what is because of the progesterone/estradiol/metformin/prenatal vitamins I've been taking. And, things change daily... so here's what's "different"
1. Sore boobs- they've been sore since I started stimming but I've noticed that when I take my bra off at night they hurt and just feel heavy; not to mention none of my bras fit anymore!
2. Burping- kinda. I've always gurgled, never really burped but one day I was burping alll day. WEIRD
3. cramping- I know it's normal but it freaks me out!
4. Tailbone pain- had it for 2 days and it went away. Doubt it's related at all but I had it when I knew I was pregnant so I'm adding it to the list:P
5. Last but not least- BLOATING... oh my gosh the bloat! Used to be extremely painful, now not so much but none of my pants fit very well anymore. Went out and bought bella bands to help during the "transition" time into maternity clothes. Ridiculous in my mind to have to use them at 5 weeks but I like to breathe soooo I'm bustin them out!:)

Honestly, that's about it. I'm hoping it stays that way for a long long time.
